Over the years the Makeup industry has grown into a very big industry, according to Forbes the industry is currently valued at $532 billion globally.
The Nigerian makeup industry is definitely not left behind in this rapid growth.
In recent times a lot of Nigerian brands and sprung up and created products that are not only affordable but products that actually get the job done.
As a makeup artist (you can book me here) I was skeptical about using products made by Nigerian brands, (reasons best known to me)
A few friends of mine mostly makeup artists rave about some Nigerian brands so I decided to give them a trial.
In this blog post, I listed out some of the top Nigerian makeup brands that I love, I also listed out my favorite product from each brands.
Most of the products from these Nigerian brands are super affordable and beginner so sit down relax and read this post with rapt attention.
The number one Nigerian makeup brand on my list is the evergreen Zaron cosmetics, This brand was founded in 2010 by the business tycoon, Oke Maduewesi.
Rumour has it that she sold everything she had to start her beauty empire which is now widely known as Zaron cosmetics today.
My favorite product from the Zaron cosmetics brand is their mascara and lipstick, words can’t even express how beautiful these products are.
I like how the mascara makes my lashes stand out, and the lipstick glides on smoothly. The Zaron lipstick comes in almost sixteen shades.
The Zaron brand has a wide variety of products, including foundation, concealers, and primers, but my favorites are the mascara and lipstick.
LADY VEE BEAUTY PLANET
The lady vee beauty makeup brand made it to my list because of the love I have for their blush platte, a vendor on Instagram introduced me to the blush palette when i needed to buy a very pigmented blush for my clients.
I fell in love with the blush palette the first time I used it because it was so pigment i sometimes use the blush platte as eyeshadow.
I have heard a few of my friends rave about their powder palette and foundation and I can’t wait to try it out and probably update this article when I do.
The vee beauty brand is owned by Vera Nwando, Vera is a entrepreneur, business woman, mother and philanthropist
The nuban beauty brand is co-owned by the popular makeup artist flawlessfacebyjane and Ndekile Stella. The brand officially launched and begin operations fully in 2017
The beauty brand has various products ranging from foundations, Lipstick, Blending Sponges, Eyeshadow palettes, Brush Set and so on.
The co-founder of Nuban beauty, flawlessfacebyjane is a sucker for glowy and dewy looks and this has greatly influenced the brand’s product. Jane never seize to show her numerous Instagram followers the goodness of Nuban beauty products
I have heard my makeup artist friends rave about the Nuban beauty products especially the IN MY SKIN CONCEALER, even though I haven’t tried it I can wait to get my hands on the concealer.
I had their lipstick and setting spray in the past and I love it
HOUSE OF TARA
House of Tara has been in the beauty business for quite some time, the brand started with rendering makeup service and also teaching young makeup enthusiasts the art of makeup.
House of Tara brand is the pioneer of beauty/makeup business in Nigeria just as it is boldy written on their official website, their makeup school was a big deal back in the early 20s.
House of Tara brand produce great products ranging from powders and lipsticks to concealers and foundation.
my favorite product from the brand is their liquid eyeliner and lip pencils, the black eyeliner glides smoothly onto the skin.
The brand is owned by a makeup artist and beauty Guru ,Tara Fela-Durotoye
Jennifer Lisa Uloko founded Yangabeauty in 2016, Yanga beauty is a Nigerian beauty brand.
Just like every other brand on this list it has different beauty products which include primers, eyeshadow palettes, beauty sponges, brow pencil, setting spray, and lost more
The brand got much traction with their browlution pencil, the brand has since grown into a big company that caters for the beauty needs of an Average Nigerian and beyond
my favorite product from the brand has to be the yanga beauty candid glow, as my makeup artist i take my glow game seriously and i help my clients blind their enemies with the Candid glow…LOL
To Sum up, there are a lot of makeup brands in Nigeria these are just the few that I have tried and have won my heart.
